Easa

Under the authority of the Latvian CAA Riga Flight School operates under DTO.02 and offers the following flight and ground training courses for issuance of EASA pilot certificates.

All programmes require ground and flight training. Ground (theoretical knowledge) can be self-study, guided study or full classes with a ground instructor, depending on students needs.

EASA PPL(A) - Private Pilot Airplane

Aim - to become proficient in single pilot airplane operation under visual meteorological conditions (VFR) weather conditions. Receive the required and sufficient theoretical and practical knowledge to operate a single engine piston airplane as a private pilot.

Result - receive an EASA private pilot license.

Time Scale - A full-time course of flight and ground (theoretical) training takes between 4 and 12 months usually, depending on student availability, determination and will.

Entry Requirements

  • be at least 16 years old
  • be proficient in use of english language
  • be medically fit to fly and airplane
  • be ready to study (approximately 100 hours of classes)

Completion Requirements

  • be at least 17 y.o
  • receive and satisfactorily complete a ground training course of 100 hours (can be self-study).
  • receive and satisfactorily complete a flight training course of at least 45 flight hours.
  • pass the required theoretical exams of Latvian CAA (9 in total)
  • receive a medical certificate of at least a class 2 in accordance with Part-MED
  • receive at least an ICAO level 4 language certificate
  • pass a checkride (practical exam) with a CAA examiner

EASA NVFR(A) - Night Rating Airplane

Aim - to qualify license holders to exercise the privileges of the license at night. To gain the needed skills and proficiency in operating in visual conditions at night.

Result - receive an NR rating on EASA private pilot license.

Time Scale - A full-time course of flight and ground (theoretical) training takes between 3 days and two weeks, depending on student availability.

Entry Requirements

  • hold a current EASA PPL or LAPL

Completion Requirements

  • at least 1 hour of ground training
  • at least 5 hours of flight training at night
  • for LAPL holders: 2 hours of flight training on instruments

EASA SEP(LAND) - Single Engine Piston

Aim - to train pilots to the level of proficiency necessary to operate safely the SEP(A) land under normal, abnormal and emergency operations.

Result - receive an SEP(A) land rating on EASA private pilot license.

Time Scale - Training takes between one day and two weeks, depending on student availability, and proficiency.

Entry Requirements

  • hold at least a current LAPL or
  • PPL with an expired SEP(A) rating

Completion Requirements

  • at least 2 hour of flight training (3 for LAPL)
  • pass a checkride (practical exam) with a CAA examiner
